Platte Valley Pony Club traces it's beginnings to the Little Britches Riding Club of the early 1950s. Under the leadership of Roe Rogers and Cat Anderson and assisted by the Arapahoe Hunt the children would gather in Greenwood Village, Littleton, and Cherry Hills Village.
In 1957, Little Britches became Platte Valley Pony Club, the first Pony Club in Colorado and one of the oldest in the country. Participants rode their horses to private land on Orchard Road, now known as Horseman's Park. Platte Valley also met at the Duke property on South Steele Street, then moving to their present home at the Village Club in the 80s.
Roe and Cat's original vision still holds true. Pony Club is never exclusionary, providing education, instilling relationships between the horse and rider, fostering teamwork and land conservation, and teaching responsibility for the horse and for self.
Our original mission is still intact. We offer activities for children of all ages and ability levels, experiencing horsemanship as a means to becoming a better rider, citizen, and human being.
