Raised in Dutchess County, NY, Nancy attended college at CU Boulder where she earned a Bachelor of Science in education and history. She worked in several industries across the country always maintaining a menagerie of animals, mainly dogs, cats, and horses. She could often be found breeding and training dogs and riding cross country. Nancy eventually settled in Denver in 1987 and studied eventing under Melinda Weatherford, USDF Hall of Fame rider Major Anders Lindgren and Sean Brevard, to name a few. She has been a member of a number of equestrian associations including USEF and Roaring Fork Hounds Hunt. Nancy is a District Commissioner of Platte Valley Pony Club and most recently was accepted a Regional title with the club. She has been a staple at the Village Club teaching the basics of flat work and jumping for over twenty years. Her former students can be found in veterinary schools, competing on the A circuit or just enjoying riding their mounts on the Highline Canal. Her lifelong passion for all things equine especially teaching children, and the gratitude and support she receives from local families all add up to a dream job for Nancy. She specializes in teaching a basic balanced seat, jumping both stadium and cross country and most importantly, developing character, leadership and confidence through a safe, disciplined horsemanship program.
Anna doesn’t remember a time she wasn’t surrounded by horses, growing up in a family with both parents competitive horsemen/women, Anna and her sisters amassed numerous national and world championships as junior riders. Anna also earned top 10 placings in all three national equitation finals, competed at Madison Square Garden, and has won many titles and awards as an adult. Most recently Anna competed up to international level dressage with her former jumper.
Although she spent a decade as a news reporter and anchor, Anna says her truest passion and most lasting “career” has been fostering the love between kids and horses.
Her parents gifted her with an insurance policy for her 14th birthday, so she could start her own riding lesson program out of the family barn. She worked teaching lessons for multiple other stables throughout high school, as well as teaching at various barns throughout her adult life while balancing her former career.
Anna’s daughter Aradia is an avid pony clubber, giving Anna the chance to finally be a member herself!
Anna loves the fact that pony club offers the same training in horsemanship, responsibility, dedication, and excellence that her parents instilled. Although her experience has been peppered with impressive competitive accomplishments, Anna most values horses for the relationship that is possible with them. She says horses have been her greatest spiritual teachers, and in this day and age, the bridge they can be to the natural world, the respite they can offer us spiritually and emotionally is invaluable.
Anna is currently enjoying a new teaching role- homeschooling her daughter in Waldorf/World Schooling/Wild Schooling, and is looking forward to a summer of fun with her horse after a decade of competing together!
JJ joined Platte Valley when she was 8. She, and her pony, Misty, never missed a meeting! She took Misty to Dressage Rally and competed (even when she broke her hand). When she was older, her interested expanded and she took a break from the equestrian world. However, her amazing daughter, Reagan, brought her back in! With her daughter being an active rider and pony clubber, JJ decided to help out her old club and become treasurer.
Molly started at Platte Valley Pony Club in the early 1990s when she was first learning to ride. She competed for PVPC at multiple rallies with her horses Thumper and Harry. She also went to KnowDown (now called Quiz) every year. She left pony club in high school, but returned when her daughter, Savannah, started riding. Molly has enjoyed being back with Platte Valley and sharing what she has learned with the next generation. In addition to pony club, Molly spends her time training her two mustangs, Laszlo and Alfie.
